Una nueva exposición en El Museo de Arte de San Diego celebra la obra pictórica del maestro Raúl Anguiano

Durante el curso de siete décadas, Raúl Anguiano fue un artista prolífico que creó un formidable conjunto de obras de gran diversidad que representan a un México tanto antiguo como moderno. Generaciones: Pinturas de Raúl Anguiano comprende obras que plasman el arte precolombino, mujeres de distintas edades y estilos de vida, la población indígena contemporánea y paisajes imperecederos.

La muestra —en exhibición a partir del 13 de agosto del presente hasta el 6 de febrero de 2011— presentará doce pinturas por el Maestro Anguiano, una de ellas de la colección permanente del Museo y once préstamos provenientes de colecciones del sur de California, Tijuana y la Ciudad de México. Las pinturas en la exposición representan la amplitud de su carrera y demuestran el profundo legado del Maestro.

Sus obras se vinculan directamente a la obra de los afamados muralistas José Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera y David Alfaro Siqueiros. Anguiano estableció su taller en Coyoacán —un barrio legendario en la Ciudad de México en el que vivieron Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo y León Trotsky— pero también vivió por temporadas prolongadas en el sur de California. Raúl Anguiano y su esposa Brigita mantuvieron un segundo hogar en esta región y visitaban Tijuana con frecuencia.

El 16 de septiembre de 2010, México celebra el bicentenario de su independencia. En conjunción con este magno evento y con el apoyo del Consulado de México en San Diego y La Sala Anguiano en Tijuana, El Museo de Arte de San Diego tiene el orgullo de presentar la exposición de uno de los pintores más importantes de México.

Holiday Inn is located at the embarcadero across from the “Star of India”. Room rates will vary, but we have negotiated a price of $99, group code is “LPA” for those who have reserved or purchased event tickets. An additional $20 will be incorporated for rooms with a bay view. To make reservations call the local number listed above only. Remember to mention your ticket number and the group code “LPA”, “Latino New Year’s” account to receive the special room rate. Please call as early as possible since reservations are based on first come, first served rate.

The cost of the gala will be $75 per person, includes dinner and dancing. A $55 per person for dance only tickets will be available and entry time is after 8:45 pm. A three course dinner will be served, which will consist of:
Appetizers: garden terrace salad, with tomato, cucumber, shredded carrots and cabbage with buttermilk ranch dressing or house oil and vinegar dressing.
Entrees: roast PRIME RIB of beef, slow roasted; herb rubbed prime rib served with au jus and horse radish cream. OR FILET MIGNON, with red wine onion marmalade, accented with black pepper cabernet demi-glace. OR PANKO CRUSTED HALIBUT, with lemon dill cream sauce. OR Vegetarian Wellington. All entries come with a piped garlic potato, seasonal fresh vegetables, rolls and butter, chocolate decadence dessert, freshly brewed coffee or decaffeinated, hot or iced tea. We will also have a champagne toast!

Late night coffee bar: complementary coffee and decaffeinated coffee, dessert stations, will served at 10:00 pm. Includes petit fours desserts, whipped cream, shaved chocolate, rock candy stirs.

Decoration party 10:30 am ­ 3:00 pm
Doors open at 5:30 pm for dinner and dance tickets
No host bar 5:30 pm ­ 1:45 am
Mariachis 6:00 pm ­ 8:00 pm
Dinner served 6:30 pm ­ 7:30 pm
Dance only tickets 8:45 pm - till closing
Band 9:00 pm ­ 1:00 am, DJ services from 5:30 pm ­ 1:45 am
