ARTS & CULTURAL ORGANIZING COLLECTIVE (ACOC)

The Arts & Cultural Organizing Collective consists of Teaching Artists and Arts Coordinating Staff, who collectively work to design and implement programs for our Youth members across sites. At the core of the creation of programming and events, is the facilitation of an integrating Arts and Cultural Organizing in to the way our young Artists create and express in their chosen form.

What we do

  • All of our arts classes are facilitated by working, studied and professional Artists who have and continue to master their craft. It is an expectation that facilitators are offering Pre-professional training that will support young people to be competitive in their field of artistry.

  • Facilitation is at the core of the work of our Arts & Cultural Organizing staff. Their training is centered on the Mission, Platforms, and Principles of El Puente guided by our GJI frameworks and the Creative Justice Approach.

  • The ACOC gather for weekly meetings as a design team- in these meetings there will also be integration of GLD Organizing staff who will support in the alignment of Cultural Organizing components being included in campaign, initiative and demonstration planning. This is the space where Artists from all sites share in the ways they are addressing their Social Justice integrations in their lesson plans. This also is a space where Artists can bring challenges they are facing in their facilitation and organizing efforts to be moved through with support by their peers.
